Prawns
Each Saturday and Sunday fresh prawns are sold on board a vessel at Port Douglas Marina from 7am. George the Groper George the Groper makes his appearance most nights at around 5.00 pm at “On the Inlet” restaurant.  George weights about 250 kg and is one of the largest fish that inhabits these waters.
Island Point or Flagstaff Hill

Drive, ride or walk up and see Four Mile Beach in all its glory.  A short but steep path and steps lead up from the northern end of 4 mile beach to the lookout.  Alternatively or you can walk or drive up Wharf Street to Island Point Road to the lookout.  Check out the World Cities Distance Compass.

Port Douglas Lighthouse

The Lighthouse is known as ‘Flagstaff Hill Lighthouse’ and is the second one built there. The lighthouse was built to replace the previous wooden lighthouse of 1878.  Take in the lovely views out to Low Isles.  Walk up Wharf Street and it is on your left, down a path and there is an information board at the entrance

Port Douglas Yacht Club – Wednesday Afternoon Sails

Every Wednesday the Club’s very generous Members volunteer their time and their Yachts to take the public out sailing.  The Skippers arrive at the Club between 4 and 5pm and choose their own “crew” by personally asking you to join them on their private Yacht for a sail.

Bike Hire

One of the best ways to get around Port Douglas is on a bike. Bike shops in town have a large range of bikes available for hire. Road bikes, mountain bikes, mens, ladies, tandem bikes and electric bikes. There are tracks all over town and the roads all have bike lanes making it very safe and pleasant to cruise around the town at your leisure.  The flat sands of Four Mile beach make an excellent ride all year round with high tides only limiting access on odd occasions.

Motor Bike Hire

A great way to explore Port Douglas, Australia and also the region surrounding it inlcuding the rainforest, beaches, tablelands and of course the village of Port Douglas itself is to rent a scooter or motorcycle. It is more fun than a rental car and you have the freedom to tour wherever you want.

Car Hire

There are several car hire companies in Port Douglas.  As well as several smaller companies we do have three big chain companies which are Avis, Budget and Thrifty.  The larger chains do allow a one way pick up or drop off in Cairns or Port Douglas.
