Now with 2 boats – one for Wavelength III carrying 30 passengers and the other Wavelength IV carrying 46 passengers. Wavelength is family owned and operated company which has been in operation for 30 years.
They cater exclusively to snorkelers and as such choose sites best suited for snorkelling rather than diving. Seawater absorbs red light first so the brightest colours are closest to the surface. Coral needs sunlight to grow so 90% of all living matter on the reef is in the top 10 meters. Wavelength is one of the original pioneers of ecotourism and co-founders of “Eye on the Reef” program, one of the largest community based coral reef health monitoring systems in the world today.
Each day the skipper on Wavelength chooses three outer reef sites by assessing weather and tide conditions to ensure you have the best experience possible. Wavelength aim to vary the sites to showcase the Great Barrier Reef’s amazing diversity, they have sites on the Opal, St Crispin and Tongue Reef.
Your day includes – transfer from your accommodation, all equipment for snorkelling, prescription masks available, guided snorkel tour, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea – special dietary needs can be catered for (please advise on booking), coffee, tea, & filtered water throughout the day, guided snorkel tour with marine biologist and an ecology presentation during your lunch.
